Adventure racing
is one of the few sports where just completing an event is often considered a victory. Another driving factor in adventure
racing is the emphasis that is placed on teamwork, rather than individual achievement.
Adventure racing
can offer easy crossover for cyclists, runners and water sport enthusiasts. The races can vary in team size from
2-5 competitors, with some events now offering solo categories. The disciplines can also vary from race to race.
Below is
a selection of what you can expect at some of our races, these disciplines may change from event to event.
As a rough guide the expert class will have about
- 20km
running/trekking
- 50-60km biking
- 3-5km
kayaking
As a rough guide the sport class will have about
- 10km running/trekking
- 25-30km biking
- 3-5km kayaking
This
can be split into many sections, so you could find yourself starting with a run then change to bike, run, bike, kayak and
finishing with a bike section.
Add in the secret tasks and you have a busy
race which could last between 6-8hrs depending on your fittness level.
